Carri 5th day in school - 9 dec 09

Monday 7 Dec 09 - Carrie's sick on sunday night, hence we let her rest at home.

Tuesday 8 Dec 09 - She cried in the morning and didn't want to even change into her uniform. We gave her the benefit of doubt that she probably still need rest hence she didn't go to school too.

TODAY Wednesday 9 dec 09 (Fifth day in school)
AT HOME...
This morning, again she whined and didn't even want to have her morning milk. She followed grandma everywhere she went in the house hoping that grandma would be able to provide her shelter. Gosh.. i hate being the bad guy all the time, no choice, mummy is always the big bad wolf *roll eyes, hands up in surrender* hahaha.. I didn't raise my voice or be angry though cos i didn't want to make situation worse. I remained calm but firm that she has to go to school no matter what. I packed her baby doll in, carried her and off we go.

Right after we stepped out of the house, she stopped crying and whining, i guess she knew there's no escape. haha.

IN THE CAR...
Grandpa carried her to his cab and she didn't make a noise, even when i carried her over to board the car. In the taxi, she asked for her water bottle, thinking that she wanted to drink water, i opened the bottle for her. To my surprise, she didn't want to drink it, she said her school teacher will give her her water bottle to drink in school ( i take it that she likes that) and then she sang "Twinkle twinkle little star" ! And told me that they sing this in school. After she's done with "Twinkle twinkle, she started the ABC song. She's smiling when she thinks of all this (good sign for sure !).

Having being in school with her for the whole first day in school, i remembered a song that they sang based on the 3 little pigs story that had the lyrics "Knock Knock Knock ! Let me in !" I repeated that to her and she laughed (super auspicious sign !) hahaha.

So by the time we alight, she waved goodbye to grandpa, held my hand and we walked to school together. She even spotted ants on the ground and we ran up the slope together. Nice.

REACHING SCHOOL...
When we reached school, a teacher came over to take their temperature (their routine daily check), this teacher is not teaching her class hence being unfamiliar to the teacher, Carrie backed off a little behind me and started to pout a little. I quickly carried her onto the bench to remove her shoes (hoping to distract her) and shoved her baby doll to her (her comfort object) With her doll in her arms, she really gained more sense of security.

When that teacher asked her to say 'Ah...' to check their tongue for signs of hand, foot, mouth disease, Carrie opened it for her (* She deserves a star for this ! its the first time she did that in school ! *).

After that i gave her a big kiss on her cheeks and let her stepped in behind the little wooden fence to the room. This time, she didn't need to be forced-carried away by the teacher, she walked in by herself (with slight anxiety though). But woo hoo ! no crying ! Her lips turned downwards a little though but yes, no crying, so cute!

I then leave promptly knowing my little carrie will settle down fast and enjoy herself in school. Its a great 5th day in school, an achievement ! Worth a celebration !

  1. That a good sign. Yibin takes few months not to cry when we take him to the childcare, although he likes the school very much.
Don't worry. She will like school as it is fun and there are more friends playing with her.
