A lovely Saturday !!

-- Sat, 7 August 2010 --

PART I
HAPPY NATIONAL DAY !
We celebrated the nation's birthday in advance with what i call as the Singapore breakfast !
Here's a lovely bread idea that my sister in law came up with for the kids to do !
A YUMMILICIOUS SINGAPORE FLAG !

The ingredients are simple : bread, jam (we ran short of strawberry jam and use kaya instead, hence the 'flag' seems more brown than red), cheese (cut in shape of crescent moon) and honey stars cereals !

The kids showing off their final product.

And of course eating them up !

PART II
Initially, we planned to go to the zoo after breakfast, however it rained the whole morning so logically we kept indoors and held blueberry muffin baking class for the kids !

Its tougher than if we, the mummies baked it by ourselves as the kids will e.g. open caps themselves resulting in baking soda spilling out on the floor, whisk the mixture too hard causing yet another spill, sneeze into the mixture (yeeewwww.........)

But my sister in law & I got tons of fun back watching the kids being little bakers and them learning about weighing the ingredients, numbers on the digital weighing scale, the different ingredients. These hands-on activities definitely beats watching tv !

Am so glad my sister in law and I planned this lovely Saturday together !

Lucky my sister in law was here ! She did the on-ground guiding and supervising the kids while i read the recipe and run to & fro the kitchen to kids' table to gather the ingredients and of course take pics for this blog !

Muffins finally got into the oven !
They are not beautiful looking but they taste really really good & full bursting with tons of blueberries !
